The hardwood sills of this shop front were starting to suffer from rot. Both the window sill and door threshold were in need of attention.
Being bare wood, we decided to carry out this repair in hard-waring Sapele. This is an especially good material to use for the door threshold where customers are coming in and out all day.
The first step was to remove the large piece of glass from the main window to gain access to the sill. We could then make templates and machine away the rotten areas back to good wood.
Finally, we jointed in the new timbers and replacement sill repairs before replacing the glass.
