The sorriest looking sash was a bit too far gone to warrant repairs. We might have made an exception if it had been a listed building but given the position of the window, it was destined to have a pretty hard life so on balance, we opted for replacement in Accoya.
Over the years, the lead welds had failed to it was a good opportunity to replace the glass and leadwork too. We took careful measurements and refurbished the lead backing bars to be reused in the new sash.
We also cleaned up and reused these superb quality double leaf-sprung period hinges.
