New Stormproof casement windows in Amersham:

We were back in Amersham to replace some rotten single glazed casements with the latest super-insulated double glazing.

It’s often said that windows are the eyes of a house but in this case, they’re the eyebrows. This eyebrow dormer window had leaded bars across the glass and if you look carefully, you’ll notice that the lead lines up nicely as a grid pattern between each sash.

For the new glazing, it was therefore important to copy the old lead pattern precisely to achieve the same effect.

With the new windows fitted, this house will be better insulated for sound and heat. The pressure treated pine frames and hardwood sill will long outlast uPVC equivalents with a little care and the lead work maintains the character that the original windows gave the house.
