We were back in Maidenhead this week to add some finishing touches to the repairs. We’d already replaced the old rotten casement sashes with new pressure treated, double glazed units. Now we turned our attention to the porch area where some of the features needed refreshing.
These decorative pelmets had a large ovolo form to them. As only a few were needed, we saved the significant cost of custom tooling that would otherwise be needed and instead made these the old-fashioned way.
After quickly roughing out the shape along a length of Accoya, we planed and then sanded the profile to match the originals. Finally, we mitered and biscuit jointed the corners together and wrapped them around the porch posts for a perfect fit.
