These 2 pairs of Georgian sashes needed a lot of love to get them back to perfect order. The main problem with them was that their bed putty had been built up with multiple layers over the years.Over time each time the glass broke it would be replaced with new bedding putty applied on top of the old bedding putty. This meant there wasn’t enough space for the external face putty to go meaning there was enough of a wedge .To fix this all the glass need to be carefully removed and the all the bed putty needed to be chiselled out before reglazing could begin. The sashes were also fully paint striped and all the mortise and tenon joints re-glued along with minor Accoya repairs.
