This was another listed building window that had a rotten sill but this time instead of completely replacing and re-joining the sill we only replaced the front half cos the back half was still in perfect condition.This isn’t an easy repair to pull off because you must create a perfectly straight ,square and flat surface for the new Accoya sill to glue onto ,any gaps, raised wood or out of squareness will result in the sill not getting the correct gluing surface and so will fail as no screws are being used.

2 x mock gothic arched dormer windows on a listed building in Maidenhead (mid Victorian). The sill needed fully replacing along with both lower jambs and just to make things worse both casement sashes were badly rotten too.Total time approx. 4 days per window was required to do the repairs fully using Accoya.

Simple sill repair in Maidenehead

This is an old Magnet window (stormproof) the orginal sill was made in softwood and the exposed part of the wooden sill had rotted.Instead of re- mortising and tenoning a new Accoya sill into the existing , another way is to simply plant on with glue an extended sill.The trick here and is essential is to make an exact 90 degree cut in both directions and to make sure the long gluing surface is also finished exactly 100% flat too so as to make a perfect gluing surface .This is easily achieved by spending a few minutes making a basic template first and the use of razor sharp Sheffield still paring chisel to finish it off.

Wooden Window Sill repair

This was a very rotted but elegant early Edwardian double squinted casement bay window in Maidenhead.All 3 of the sills that made up the bay were completely rotted and needed to be fully replaced in Accoya and re-jointed at the same time to accommodate the tenons of the vertical members. This window was so badly gone 2 of the mullions also needed to be re-tenoned plus 1 x transom and all 4 x of the casement sashes repaired and in some cases re-tenoned as well. The repairs had to be done in stages too so as to stop the window from falling out.Total time for both bays 7 days plus 6 metres of 6 x 3 Accoya.
